Description

A rich, moist, and decadent vegan chocolate cake that’s completely gluten free — perfect for any celebration or sweet craving.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, coconut sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix almond milk, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract, and applesauce.
  4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool completely before removing from the pan and serving.

Notes

You can top with a vegan chocolate ganache or dust with powdered sugar. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
